Raelin maintained a slow pace as she followed a deserted path through the forest. Over head, gray clouds had begun to release buckets of rain, as if they had been saving up for weeks just to find Raelin and soak her. They had accomplished their mission. Raelin had her arms rapped around herself in a futile attempt to keep warm. She had no jacket, coat, etc. to keep herself dry, so she was shivering slightly and all of her clothing and her hair were drenched.
The only reason she was not hiding under a nearby tree was because Raelin was hoping to find another town/city to take shelter in. She was pushing herself to keep going.
...just a bit further... She was on a mission to find out what had happened to her older brother and father. Every place she had passed through thus far had no news, no records of the dead or the living. She tried not to let this discourage her, but she did feel disappointment every time she left another empty town.
It had been almost two days now since she had arrived in another one of those lifeless ghost towns. She was beginning to realize she needed some rest. She never actually slept much, mostly because her stiff, aching limbs and back had been giving her problems since she woke up, for lack of better term. These nuisances were fading everyday, but only in minuscule amounts. To keep her mind off this pain and thoughts of her family, she kept moving.
((Ew, crappy post. I apologize.))

((Ah no! I like the post, I've made some really bad ones in my time )) Blake had been wondering, he'd recently seen Eva, but had lost track of her somewhere, his body was still weak, broken, and he was trying to pitch up enough strength to try to find her. His hair seemed to stick to his face as it was weighed heavily by pelting rain "There will probably be thunder" he whispered to no one in particular, partly in order to improve his speech, partially to act as some kind of company for himself. The whole issue with moving small limbs, such as his tongue, or his fingers, was still a difficult feat to attain. He wasn't even sure how long he had been just...wandering, he'd seen many other creatures, some dangerous, some normal, some sickeningly deformed, all in the same situation. He felt lost, lonely, and though he wouldn't be too keen in admitting it, a little frightened, okay....terrified. As his feet came upon a small incline of sinking mud and ice cold water he sighed, attempting to drag himself from it, before his gaze came upon that of a small girl, roughly his age, give or take a year or two. Of course he had to come into contact with her just as the mud released him, sending him ungracefully flying to the ground just a few paces from her, looking up at her with an expression caught between amusement, exhaustion and fear as he reached a dented hand out to push himself up. Those odd marks of his death still apparent against his skin

Raelin sensed someone approaching and froze where she stood. She could not tell who, or what it was coming toward her. At first, she was frightened. What if it was one of those vampires or shape shifters she had heard about? But that was silly. She was virtually a zombie without a home or friends. Why would it matter if an unfriendly creature stumbled upon her? Dieing was not so bad...In fact, she remembered it being rather nice, especially since it finally relieved her of the pain the disease had caused her.
This thought gave her some courage. Instead of hiding in the woods when a blurry figure came into view, she continued forward. Apparently, it was a young man stuck in a patch of mud. Raelin did not sense any hostile feelings from him, so she approached him, though timidly.
When she was a few feet away, the poor boy fell backward. She almost reached out to help him, but decided it would be better to find out who he was first and kept her arms wrapped around her shivering body. She noticed the strange deformity on his skin, but did not inquire as to its origin thinking it would be rude to do so.
At the moment, she was not sure how to react to the boy. Her eyes, currently blue, looked him over. Hopefully he was friend, not foe.

Blake sighed in irritation as he felt mud stick to his skin, his clothes, and make him look worse then he already did. He managed to slowly drag himself up to a sitting position and tried to kick his feet from the clinging ground before looking up at the young woman before him. He couldn't tell anything about her a moment and as fear rose in the pit of his stomach a slight hissing sound heard from beneath his palms from them heating unnaturally, burning the grass beneath, before a small smile adorned his face on scattered words of mind whispering in his ear from her, louder as she approached.
"You died as well" he said softy, stupidly, not realizing for a moment how tender an area he'd have been pressing as he himself had been in slumber until recently and with that for Blake seemed to have brought idiocy upon him, though when he thought about it he had never been the sharpest with, well, other people "I-I'm sorry!" He spoke quickly shaking his head almost fitfully at a loss for something other to say "I'm um, I'm Blake, I...um....I'm a bit stuck" he said shooting her an amused smile as he managed to separate himself from the muck and cocked his head to the side looking at her "I just...I just woke up, well a few days ago, but the point still stands" he smiled trying to display his utter harmlessness to her

Raelin saw a puff of smoke escape from under the boy's palm. The grass beneath was singed brown. Maybe he was not a vampire or shape shifter, but what was he? She sensed he was also afraid. Maybe the burning palms was a reaction to Raelin.
The boy interrupted her thoughts with a surprising statement: "You died as well."
As well? She stared at him, slightly shocked. So, she was not the only one. But how did he know that. Raelin thought of the ugly dark blotches on her pale skin. Perhaps he had come to his conclusion upon seeing the bruises on her bare arms and face. Raelin subconsciously put a to the ovular blotch under her left eye. Or maybe he had abilities besides being able to burn grass with his hands?
Whatever the case, he apologized for his inquiry, and then introduced himself. This made her feel a bit more comfortable. "My name is Raelin," she replied shyly after brushing some of her wet hair out of her face. He also told her he had only woken up a few days earlier. "Oh...I woke up almost a week ago..." Of coarse, she had no idea the exact number of days, and she had no idea what the date was.

"Everyones dead..." he muttered softly that dazed look still attached to his eyes before he shook his head and looked back up at her placing that odd smile which seemed as though is shouldn't be there upon his face.
"Raelin?" he repeated slowly, his tongue tired and the name odd to his ear "I...I might have woken a week ago...I can't really remember" he frowned "Kinda weird, time doesn't....it just....passes you by without you knowing with the world like this." His voice came softly, almost with a musical note to it as he spoke, calm eyes watching her, every so often his gaze would leave her, as his thought would escape him, nothing seemed clear anymore, nothing seemed to make sense, and each time some tangible thought caught his mind another would press away his attention leaving him a stuttering, rambling idiot.
"I'm sorry, I think I'm a little lost" he told her softly, granting her a small, nervous smile "I just can't think straight. this all seems like a nightmare" he said softly and shook his head before he noticed the sore under her eye and smiled a little moving closer to her, just barely, his movements slow and labored as he tired to appear as little a threat as possible "Your lucky, I don't even recognize myself anymore." he said barely above the rain which thudded upon the ground

Raelin watched him curiously. He seemed distant; she wondered what he was thinking, what that murmer ment. Obviously, that smile was fake. She sensed he felt some other emotion, but she did not delve to deeply. However, her blue eyes continued searching his facial expressions.
The corners of Raelin's lips turned up slightly when Blake apologized again. How silly. She had agreed with his previous statement about time. "You say that too much," she commented, not really meaning to. This was a nightmare to her as well. It all seemed fictional, like she was looking through someone elses eyes.
When Blake noticed her bruise she looked at the wet ground. Honestly, she had not recognized herself either. She was a pale, sickly looking wretch. Her reflection was revulting to her. She never like her physical appearance, but she would trade what she had before her death for this disgusting, rotted body any day.
"I'm lost as well," she said finally.

"I've always been that way, cause hell when I'm nervous I could talk for Egypt, and clearly I'm very nervous right now so yeah" Blake laughed a little, the sound anything but humored, it seemed almost frightened, broken.
"Do you have anywhere to go? I think we're on the edge of Cairo, but I don't want to go back, things there are....its not good." he said softly, looking up at the other girl but his mind almost instantly traced back to Eva, and his heart fluttered as she came to mind before he looked back down at Rea
"Your really pretty you know" he smiled hearing her thoughts and patted her shoulder with a small smile "Well maybe we can help eachother right? I mean I'm not even sure what I am anymore, not human is all I know" he sighed "Not the worst of them though, I think we're called guards, some kinda parasites." Blake shrugged "thats all I know"

Raelin's little smile came back when Blake admitted he was nervous. She was as well, though she was steadily becoming more comfortable with this stranger.
When she heard his question her smile faded, and she looked at the ground again. She had left her former home as quickly as she was able. Nothing was there but the stench of rotting flesh and her mother's shallow grave. She had no desire to go back to that place, but Cairo did not sound fun either. "No. I have nothing..." She her words reflected more emotion than she meant, but it was the truth.
Raelin looked up when Blake complimented her. "Thanks..." she replied, though she was not sure she believed him. Not that she thought he was trying to deceive her. Raelin just never thought the way he did about her appearance, especially now.
His next statement shocked her. "Parasites?" she murmured. She knew she had become a vulgar creature, at least to look at, but a parasite? Raelin squirmed internally. She may have become something akin to a leech. She clenched her jaw in frustration and looked away.

"Join the club, I don't think anyone does," Blake sighed and ran a hand through his hair "Well, those of use who care to have anything anymore" he smirked
Blake looked down at the girls expression and cocked his head to the side before giving her a smile "Hey, hey it's not all bad. I mean least we don't have to work anymore, I swear if I have to sift through three years worth of receipts again..." he smiled "But we have a choice, we either go to the city or the country, both are okay-ish on food, well, depends on how good you are with plants of course, myself I'm sticking to the city, I've someone I want to find and most people I think are going to the citys to find people, though there probably very dangerous compared to here, and well...you might want to avoid the corpses, you kinda get used to the smell I dread to admit, I've been just kinda, searching the area, the suburbs are the worst, but if we stick to the city center we should be alright"
"Well I dunno about parasites as such, just how I was referred to, you know? Cause we both died" Blake shrugged then gave a small smile and tapped his temple "Sorry since I...I dunno I'd say came back but that's kinda cheesy don'tcha think? But yeah, kinda forget when people are talking to me and when....there not." "Well anyway, yeah parasites apparently but from what I picked up on it's not like, I dunno, a leech or nothin', just I think we find people to cling to you know, actually how would you? don;t think I get it myself, I only gathered bits, so yeah" Blake smiled then shook his head giving her an apologetic look "Sorry, I think you've probably found the most annoying person left in Cairo, I babble way too much" he smirked "So yeah anyway if you want you can head off, but I gotta stick here cause if I gotta find someone to protect or cling off or whatever it is I leech off I already know who it's gonna be, and she's in the city. But I don't think she'll know me...I really dunno how I'm gonna do it, but yeah you wanna come with Rea, can I call you Rea? Well yeah you can stick with if you can stand me" he laughed hardly taking a breath in all he'd said to her before he finally managed to shut up and set his sights upon re-entering the city

Raelin faked a smile after hearing Blake give her one good aspect of her life now. She knew he was trying to make her feel better, and she was grateful. However, his attempt failed. She work trade any amount of work to return to her old life, to see her family again.
When Blake gave Raelin her options, she bit her bottom lip. She had definitely had enough of suburbs, of wandering alone, and of being paranoid that some crazed survivor was going to ambush her. Blake seemed like a nice guy, in fact the most kind person she had met on the journey here. Everyone else had been callous, even anti-social. This was understandable, but it was still nice to come upon someone who was not angry at the world.
Besides that, Raelin was looking for someone herself, two someones in fact. Maybe she could find some new information in the city ahead.
"Um...If you don't mind, I think I'll stick with you..." Raelin told Blake, still speaking in a soft tone. Safety in numbers, right?

"Course I don't mind" Blake grinned at her "I said you could follow didn't I?" he smiled 'Oh yes Blake, smile and look happy, might make life a little easier right?' Blake sighed internally, all those smiles, those happy little gestures, those words upon words, those pleasant little lies. Blake wasn't happy, how the hell could he be happy? Still a little in shock maybe, but not happy, but at least if he looked that way, tried to be that way, something about it would come true...or at least he might be able to make Rea think that things aren't so bad if he made himself appear happy and well....lied to her
"So here's the city..." He sighed as they entered one of the main streets and looked down at her "Be careful, have you seen anyone since you, well woke?" he asked softly looking cautiously at what could be potentially their deaths

Raelin followed him quietly. She left enough space between them so as not to make him feel uncomfortable, but at the same time stayed as close to him as she dared, as if she were afraid she would lose him if she strayed too far. Raelin felt relieved to find someone she seemed to be able to trust. Hopefully, he would stick around for a while.
As they drew nearer the city, Raelin began to feel tense. She had no idea how to fend off attackers, especially not the creatures she had recently heard about. Of coarse, this information was only rumor, but Raelin was not taking any chances; she used one of her new found abilities (empathy) to scan the vicinity.
"A few people here and there..." Raelin answered Blake, trying to sound calm. Truly, she had seen maybe five people on her way here.

William's skin prickled the hairs on the back of his neck standing up as he heard the two Guards approach he could feel their eyes scanning the area. He was unsure if they saw him hidden as he was in the shadows. He was annoyed at the interruption to his feeding he had an extremely pretty young thing pressed up against the wall and had been planning on playing with his food a bit more but now decided quickly was his best option. He let out a soft sigh against his victims neck sucking lightly at a pulse point not even the faintest hint of teeth until he muttered. "Oh we could have had so much fun." He purred raking his fingers through soft hair before biting down, letting the blood flow into his mouth warming him all over and then dropped the body unceremoniously in a heap with the rest of the rubbish around him. He sincerely hopped they had seen him they seemed so innocent that he ached to make them see the kind of people who really succeeded in this world.
He walked calmly from the shadows wiping at his mouth slightly so as not to be running around with blood dripping all over him. His face broke into a grin when he recognised Blake. "Oh hello," he said happily to them as he moved into step beside them. "As I recall you're the little Guard who ruined my suit." he said to him his tone even and measured almost charming. He smile in Raelin's direction. "Going for the safety in numbers cliche now are you?" he asked Blake with a hint of amusement to his voice. "Not as useless as I first thought either surviving all this time."

"Your lucky, last I saw tried to bite my head off, literally, thats not you of course" Blake laughed a little light heartedly
"How do you know that?" Blake asked and figured she must have had some ability as well, he was actually trying to stay out of her head but it wasn't going very well, he kept picking up things he didn't want to hear he sighed and "Most are safe I think" Blake nodded before his hand shot to her wrist , taking it loosely between his index finger and thumb as someone unpleasant touched his mind
"Shit" he growled and moved so his body was protecting hers "And heres what tried to bit my head off" he whispered before William had even come into sight "If you get the chance leg it" he said quietly to her hurrying their progress hoping the other might be too busy feeding, but it was a little late for that.
"I'll kill you this time" he growled shooting Rea a small smile before lifting his left hand, the sleeve of his jumper falling to ash as his hand became engulfed by hot harsh flame "You stay away from her" Blake growled, his voice low and threatening
